Frequently asked questions

How long will it take to fix my credit?

That’s a difficult question to answer as it’s entirely dependent on your credit situation and goals moving forward. Most companies will offer various service levels to fit your specific needs and budget, but it may take months before you start seeing any results. Also, right now during this pandemic and mail delays, what used to take a month to complete now takes more than 2 months.

Are credit restoration companies legitimate?

Of course. While there may be a few bad apples in the bunch, the industry as a whole is focused on consumer advocacy. It's hard to last in this business if you are focused on making people's lives better.

How much do companies charge?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to fixing your credit. As a result, every company is going to offer different products at different prices. We've seen companies offering products that range from $24.95/month to $129.95/month. We've also seen multiple month packages that have 3, 6, or 12 month contracts with prices ranging from $375 to $1500. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for, and depending on your situation, paying extra for a more advanced service level may be the smarter choice. The problem is (from a consumer standpoint) it is very difficult to tell who is good at it and who isn't.

What do credit restoration companies do?

No surprises here: credit restoration companies want to help you restore (and hopefully rebuild) your credit. Their primary function is to communicate with creditors and the credit bureaus on your behalf, challenging and disputing inaccurate, unsubstantiated or unfair negative items that are harmfully impacting your score. Most companies also offer a wide range of monitoring and credit management tools.

Can I fix my credit myself?

Absolutely, it will take a lot of time and dedication, but you most certainly do not "need" a credit restoration service in order to get good results. Most people simple don't have the time or energy to dedicate to this process. Even if you only have one or two negative items that need addressing, doing it alone won’t be easy and will probably take longer than you’d like. Hiring a reputable credit restoration company will alleviate much of the stress and difficulty...but once again, it isn't necessary.

How much will a negative item hurt my credit score?

According to CreditCards.com and CNNMoney, even a single negative on your credit could cost you over 100 points.
